Full list of variables for Slides

Use this reference to find the syntax of the dynamic variables available in Ezus Slides templates.

Slides variables retrieve information entered in Ezus and insert it automatically into your generated document.

If you are new to variables, start with Getting started with variables.

💡 You can find variables directly in the Variable Drawer while editing your template. Whenever possible, copy the variable from the drawer instead of typing it manually.

Use this article when you need to find a specific Slides variable or understand its syntax, available options, or context.

Variables in Ezus can be divided into two main groups:

  • General variables, for information related to the project, client, contacts, alternatives, payments and other project-level information.

  • Program variables, for information related to the itinerary, such as days, steps, accommodations, transport, products and destinations.

Most variables are available to all customers. Custom field variables are different: they retrieve information from fields configured specifically for your account. We cover these separately later in this article.

How to read the variables

Some variables in this article contain placeholders. Replace them with the information you want to retrieve.

Placeholder

What to replace it with

Example

N

The number of the item you want to display. 1 = first item, 2 = second item, 3 = third item, etc.

$$days.2.title$$ retrieves the title of the second day.

N'

The number of the alternative you want to display. Alternatives are numbered from 0: 0 = first alternative, 1 = second alternative, etc.

$$alternatives.0.title$$ retrieves the title of the first alternative.

Z

The type of program item: steps, accom, or transp.

Replace Z with transp to retrieve transport information.

[X]

The category you want to retrieve, such as [train], [hotel], or [restaurant].

$$transp.[train].1.title$$ retrieves the title of the first train.

[short] / [long]

The version of a description you want to display.

$$destination.description.[long]$$ retrieves the long description.

💡 You do not need to build variables manually. Whenever possible, find and copy the variable directly from the Variable Drawer.

For example, the reference variable:

$$Z.[X].N.title$$

can become:

$$transp.[train].1.title$$

This retrieves the title of the first transport item in the train category.

⚠️ N and N' do not start at the same number. Most numbered items use 1 for the first item, while alternatives start at 0.

General variables

General variables retrieve information that is not tied to a particular program item.

They include information related to the project, client, contacts, alternatives and payments.

Alternatives

💡 Unlike most numbered variables, alternatives are numbered starting from 0, not 1. The first alternative is therefore 0.

Supplier information associated with a product

You can also retrieve information about the supplier associated with the current product.

For example:

$$this.supplier.title$$

$$this.supplier.capacity$$

$$this.supplier.website$$

$$this.supplier.address.[country]$$

$$this.supplier.contacts.N.name$$

Provider information

Provider information has its own variables.

To find them in the Variable Drawer, go to:

Product → Provider

Provider variables follow the same structure and logic as Supplier variables, but retrieve information from the provider associated with the product.

⚠️ Supplier and Provider variables are not interchangeable. Make sure you select the correct source, especially when a product contains both Supplier and Provider information.

Supplier and Product from a program item

You can also access information associated with a particular program item.

Information source

Structure

Supplier

$$Z.N.supplier...$$

Product

$$Z.N.product...$$

Supplier within a day

$$days.N.steps.N.supplier...$$

Product within a day

$$days.N.steps.N.product...$$

Add the information you want to retrieve after the object.

For example:

$$Z.N.supplier.title$$

retrieves the supplier title associated with the selected program item.

Custom field variables

The variables covered so far retrieve standard Ezus information available to customers. Custom fields are different because they are fields configured specifically for your account.

This means that a custom-field variable contains a technical name that depends on your own configuration.

In the variable syntax, {{Y}} represents the technical name of the custom field, not its visible label.

For example, imagine you have a custom field displayed as:

Number of stars

with the technical name:

nb_stars

A variable written in the reference as:

$$this.{{Y}}$$

would become:

$$this.{{nb_stars}}$$

[Screenshot: Custom field configuration showing the visible field name and its Technical name, with nb_stars highlighted]

💡 Copy the technical name from the custom field configuration rather than assuming it is the same as the field's visible name.

Depending on where the custom field is configured, you can use structures such as:

Information

Variable

Project custom field

$$project.{{Y}}$$

Client custom field

$$client.{{Y}}$$

Current object custom field

$$this.{{Y}}$$

Program item custom field

$$Z.[X].N.{{Y}}$$

Step custom field within a day

$$days.N.steps.[X].N.{{Y}}$$

For example, if a restaurant step contains a custom field whose technical name is menu:

$$steps.[restaurant].1.{{menu}}$$

retrieves the value stored in the menu custom field for the first restaurant step.

⚠️Custom fields depend on your account configuration. A technical name used in another account or another custom field will not automatically retrieve your information.

🔭 See [article about creating and configuring custom fields] to learn what custom fields are, where they are configured, and how to find their technical names.

Date formatting

You can control how a date appears by adding a date format to the variable.

Common formats

Format

Displays

.[w_day]

Weekday

.[day]

Day

.[month]

Month

.[year]

Year

For example, if Day 1 is Wednesday, December 14, 2022:

$$days.1.date.[day]$$

displays:

14

$$days.1.date.[month]$$

displays:

December

$$days.1.date.[year]$$

displays:

2022

Custom date formats

You can combine date codes to create the exact date format you want.

For example, if you want to display:

Wednesday 14 December

use:

$$days.1.date.[%A %d %B]$$

If you want to display the full date including the year:

Wednesday 14 December 2022

use:

$$days.1.date.[%A %d %B %Y]$$

Code

Meaning

%a

Short weekday

%A

Full weekday

%w

Weekday number

%d

Day of the month

%b

Short month

%B

Full month

%m

Month number

%y

Two-digit year

%Y

Full year

%j

Day number in the year

%U

Week number, Sunday first

%W

Week number, Monday first

%%

% character

%d’

Day with ordinal ending

Image formatting

Slides image variables can use different image behaviors.

Behavior

Example

Standard

$$client.logo$$

Crop

$$client.logo.[crop]$$

Center

$$client.logo.[center]$$

🔭 See Add and format image variables in Slides to learn when to use the standard image variable, crop, or center.

Slides modifiers

The following symbols are not variables. They change how content behaves when the information associated with a variable is missing.

Symbol

Purpose

&& ... &&

Hides accompanying static text when the variable does not exist

@@

Adds a line break only when the following variable exists

#--#

Removes a table row when the variable does not exist

⚠️These modifiers are specific to Slides. Do not use them in HTML templates.

🔭 See Use modifiers in Slides for examples and instructions on how to use these modifiers.
